Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery game developed by Campo Santo, set in the Wyoming wilderness in 1989. You play as Henry, a fire lookout who communicates solely through a handheld radio with his supervisor, Delilah. This connection is pivotal as the narrative unfolds, allowing players to shape their relationship with Delilah through dialogue choices. The game’s strongest feature is its meticulously crafted environment, designed by Olly Moss and Jane Ng, which expands as you navigate the landscape, drawing you deeper into the story’s mystery.

Wyoming Wilderness Setting

Firewatch places players in a detailed wilderness environment, capturing the essence of Wyoming's rugged terrain. The game’s visual design, credited to artists Olly Moss and Jane Ng, offers a rich and engaging backdrop for the story. As Henry, players explore this setting to uncover secrets and mysteries, with the environment serving as both a beautiful and isolating presence. The game’s art and natural landscapes are integral to the experience, reflecting the character's emotional journey and the unfolding narrative.

Interactive Storytelling with Delilah

A significant aspect of Firewatch is the dynamic storytelling facilitated through Henry's interactions with Delilah via radio. These conversations, voiced by Cissy Jones and Rich Sommer, are central to the gameplay, allowing players to engage in mature dialogues that influence the course of the narrative. The choices made during these exchanges affect the development of Henry and Delilah's relationship, highlighting the game's focus on adult themes and personal connections.

Original Soundtrack by Chris Remo

Complementing the visual and narrative elements of Firewatch is an original soundtrack composed by Chris Remo. The music enhances the atmosphere, underscoring key moments and emotions throughout the game. Remo’s compositions are crafted to complement the wilderness setting and the evolving story, adding depth to the player’s experience as they navigate the challenges and mysteries that Henry encounters in the forest.
