SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream is a premium multiplayer game in the SAO series, set in ALfheim Online after the introduction of Galaxia, a system that lets players relive the past. When Galaxia spins out of control, players from across time and space are displaced, and Kirito must work with fallen friends and foes to set the timeline back on track. The game includes 21 characters from the SAO series, each with a unique role. Its strongest differentiator is the scale of its online play: Boss Raid and Co-Op Quest support up to 20 players in five parties of four, with NPCs added if matchmaking falls short. A single-player Story mode offers an original story.

The Galaxia Anomaly

Galaxia is a new system in ALfheim Online that allows players to relive the past. It spins out of control, displacing characters from all over time and space. Kirito must work with fallen friends and foes to restore the timeline. The single-player Story mode follows an original story in which characters from across time and space gather to confront the anomaly in the VR world. A total of 21 characters from the SAO series join the fight, each with their own unique role. This premise drives both the narrative and the roster.

Boss Raid and Co-Op Quest

Boss Raid is an online-only mode where up to 20 players form five parties of four to challenge a gigantic boss. It brings back powerful bosses that once stood against Kirito and his friends. Co-Op Quest also supports 20 players in five parties of four; the parties start separated and gradually unite as the quest progresses. In the final area, all participants face a last showdown against a boss. If there are not enough participants, NPCs are added until the total reaches 20. Online-exclusive modes can also be played solo through matchmaking.

Free Roam and Matchmaking

Free Roam is an online-exclusive mode where players can freely move through a map filled with powerful bosses and treasure chests. Up to 20 players can participate in one map, creating one-time adventures with randomly selected players. The map supports open movement rather than a fixed quest path, and the mode can be played solo through matchmaking. Alongside Boss Raid and Co-Op Quest, Free Roam forms the game’s online structure: 20-player sessions, five parties of four, and NPC backfill when needed.
